The “Lumad Textiles: Artistry and Identity” exhibition is the 5th regional gallery of the Hibla ng Lahing Filipino Program, in partnership with the Office of Senator Loren Legarda and the GAMABA Executive Council of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. The main gallery is in the Central Museum, the National Museum of Anthropology. This features the textiles and ornaments made from tie-dyed woven abaca cloths and commercially available cotton cloth intricately decorated with embroidery, colorful beads, shells, and applique of the Lumad from the National Ethnographic Collection loaned collections from our partners and gathered materials under the Hibla ng Lahing Filipino Program. Some of the textiles of the Ata-Manobo, Bagobo, Blaan, Bukidnon, Higaonon, Mandaya, Manobo, Tagakaolo, Tboli, and Tiruray are showcased in this exhibition. It also highlights the lives and works of three traditional textile weavers from Mindanao who were recognized as Manlilikha ng Bayan (National Living Treasure) by the NCCA.
