CENTRAL LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES

The National Museum of the Philippines’ Central Library and Archives is a special government library and archives that focuses on the acquisition, collection, organization, circulation, and preservation of a comprehensive collection of print and non-print information sources on museology, museography, fine arts, anthropology, natural history and other related studies.

The NMP Central Library and Archives operates primarily to serve the research and information needs of its museum researchers, officials, and employees.  It is also open and accessible to the general public in need of related literature and studies on museums, works of art, specimens, and cultural and historical artifacts.

ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOG (OPAC)

The NMP Central Library and Archives’ Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) is run by the Koha Integrated Library System, a multifunctional free and open source software for library automation.

Collection

The library collection comprises of books and periodicals such as journals and magazines, available in local and foreign scope. It takes pride in its special collection composed of NMP publications, and exhibition catalogues.


Services

Reference Service
This service is a form of technical assistance rendered to internal and external clients who require aid in the search and retrieval of their needed information and/or information sources.

An internal or external researcher or reader may ask a reference query via email, phone call, or personal visit.

Circulation Service
This service is a form of technical assistance rendered to internal and external clients who require the use of library and archival materials for research and/or general interest reading purposes.

An internal or external researcher or reader may make a request for circulation via email, phone call, or personal visit.


Publications

The National Museum of the Philippines as a government institution makes available to the public all its electronic publications, which are readily available online for free downloads.
