HERITAGE CONNECT: EXCLUSIVE GALLERY ACCESS—Rafflesia baletei

This Museums and Galleries Month, your National Museum in Bicol will conduct an onsite event on 2022 October 6, entitled, Heritage Connect: Exclusive Gallery Access—Rafflesia baletei with some selected students from Malabog National High School.

This exclusive event will provide an opportunity for the participants to appreciate our natural history through the replica of a Rafflesia baletei in full bloom, which is a rare sight. There will be a short talk about this natural history specimen and an exclusive guided tour will come after.

The Rafflesia baletei is endemic to Bicol and was first collected in 1991 by Bicolano mammologist Danilo S. Balete in Mt. Isarog.  This is considered as one of the smallest species of the world’s largest flower-Rafflesia.
