GALLERY 9 – MANGROVES, BEACHES, AND INTERTIDAL ZONE

Experience a glimpse of the transition between the terrestrial and marine environment without getting your feet wet. See the different Philippine flora and fauna found in mangroves, beaches, and intertidal zone. This gallery provides the public with an interactive simulation of what it is like to walk through a mangrove forest as you head down towards the beach.

Know what it is like to journey through a mangrove forest via a walkway that displays the mangrove trees along with its inhabitants. The gallery also features the beach and intertidal zone that highlights the interaction of marine flora and fauna along with a diorama of different shorelines found in the country. One can find the different marine critters like crabs, starfish, sea urchins, and shells for each area.

Another feature of the gallery is a cross-section of a sea turtle’s nesting area. The public gets a peek of how it looks like under the sand. Observe how the baby turtles struggle to break free from their shell and emerge from the sand and race towards the splashes of the sea.
