Artist Talk | Culture through Fashion, Arts, and Design

Invitation to “Artist Talk | Culture through Fashion, Arts, and Design” featuring Michael Leyva

In celebration of the Museums and Galleries Month 2022 with the theme “Embracing Uncertainty: Showcasing Solidarity, Hope, and Recovery”, the National Museum of the Philippine through the Museum Services Division’s Education and Training Services Section invites everyone to an activity entitled Artist Talk | Culture through Fashion, Arts, and Design. This Artist Talk program will feature the story of Michael Leyva, a well-known Filipino designer who is celebrating his 10th year anniversary in the industry of fashion at the National Museum of Natural History, Manila this October 2022.

The talk will highlight Michael Leyva’s work, journey to success, inspirations, influences, and challenges met in the fashion industry. Through the discussion, he will underscore how Filipino style and culture is incorporated in his works amidst the global influence and domination from the western world or fashion.

This program aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the participants in the work or process of showing Philippine culture embedded in style, textile, and thread. Furthermore, to promote collaborations with the weaving communities all over the country.

The activity will be on October 11, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Osmeña Hall, 2nd Floor of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Manila.
