New look, new perspective – the National Museum of the Philippines launches its new website!

In the run up to the 120th year of the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) on October 29 and while we continue to celebrate the Civil Service Month, our new website was launched this morning, September. It will provide better access to our collections, exhibitions, and services – an important consideration in the time of the pandemic.

The new website hopes to strengthen the relationship of the museum with its communities, especially those who have limited access to our facilities brought about by closure due to health protocols or physical limitations. We intend it to be a reliable online information resource site that can serve the needs and interest of fellow government employees, and its varied audiences, locally, nationally, and globally.

Some of its salient features are views to exhibitions in video format or 360 virtual tours, highlights to collections in our care, news and events, job opportunities in our museum and downloadable forms.

After years of planning, developing, and designing a new website that is content-driven, visually appealing, and interface-friendly, the Museum deemed it timely to launch a more compelling website to the public at the end of Civil Service Month and the eve of the National Museums and Galleries Month – in which our 120th founding anniversary will take place on 29 October.

The global health crisis carried imposing challenges and changes in the way cultural institutions perform. For the NMP, these challenges provided an opportunity to step back and figure out how best we can communicate to museum audiences.

Thank you to those who accepted our invitation to the launch this morning and joined us on this milestone. Your support is very much appreciated. For further details, you may email msd@nationalmuseum.gov.ph or contact Museum Services Division at (02) 8527 1218; (02) 8298 1100 loc. 1032.
